The organization works only with certified plantations and farms to preserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable living conditions. Independent organizations verify compliance with strict requirements, making Rainforest Alliance a trustworthy seal of approval for businesses and consumers. Products bearing the Rainforest logo meet strict social and environmental standards.

In 2014, the State of Sustainability Initiatives Review rated Rainforest Alliance highest in social impact (84 percent) above Fairtrade, UTZ and organic. The Rainforest Alliance seal stands for transparency and sustainability, something Kaldi Koffie & Thee is proud of.

What does the Rainforest Alliance certification entail?

The Rainforest Alliance seal of approval, recognizable by the little green frog, adorns many Kaldi coffee blends. This little frog was deliberately chosen because frogs are indicator species for the health of the environment. Their presence indicates a healthy ecosystem. So the little frog on a package guarantees that the coffee was produced sustainably and with respect for nature.

The Rainforest Alliance frog certification indicates that a farm, forest or tourism enterprise meets strict standards for environmental protection, social responsibility and economic sustainability. To be certified, a farm must meet the requirements of the Sustainable Agricultural Network (SAN):

• Effective planning
